Francine Funke’s paintings are "sculpted" of acrylic paint on paper which is mounted on canvas. Through her unique handling of materials, she captures the rhythmic and emotional essence of fire.

Her installations have traveled to major museums across the country including The Museum of Art, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, The Scottsdale Center for the Arts, The Discovery Museum, CT. and The Russell Senate Rotunda on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C, where her exhibition was sponsored by Senator Joseph Lieberman.

Other solo exhibitions include Dowling College, Oakdale, N.Y., Walter Wickiser Gallery, N.Y., Barbara Braathen Gallery, N.Y., Tiffany and Company’s Windows, N.Y., PMW Gallery, Stamford, CT. and The Stamford Museum. Her work has been review in ARTnews, The New York Times and New York Magazine.
Ms. Funke’s book, ON FIRE, poem and paintings, published in 1995, is in the library collections of the Museum of Modern Art, The Whitney Museum, and The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, to name a few.

Francine received a BFA from Cornell University and a MFA from Hunter College. She has served as Juror for the Connecticut Commission on the Arts, Art in Public Places and is a member of the Loft Artists Association. Francine is listed in Who’s Who of American Women. Her studio is located in the Stamford Industrial Park on Canal Street in Stamford.
