Diane Weeks has a fine arts and illustration background from Parsons School of Design.

She studied painting in Paris and Italy and pursued the art of printmaking at The National Academy of Design in New York City.

During this time, she exhibited mainly hand watercolored etchings depicting scenes of intimate spaces. Her etchings have been accepted at The National Academy Shows, The Annual Gracie Square Art Shows, and at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center. She was awarded departmental honors from Parsons and won The Albert Baldwin Prize (Best Etching in Show) from The Academy.

Upon moving to Connecticut, Diane developed a business in interior design which allowed her another way to express her love of interiors and decorative arts. This combination has led to the artist's latest work featuring rapidograph pen and watercolor scenes.

Diane's current pieces depict vignettes of daily life through objects and places rather than through people. By utilizing the environment that people create, the artist illustrates their feelings about their involvement with their surroundings and what they think is beautiful.

Just as detailed line defines etchings, the line of the rapidograph pen similarly allows the artist to record in great detail. Subsequently, the watercolor becomes a mosaic of pattern and color. The results are ultimately joyful, harmonious and a celebration of life.
