“The impetus for my work is the investigation of both my past and present personal life. The subject matter can be the graphic illustration of a three dimensional heart created in metal, a painted abstract landscape or a whimsical figurative mixed media assemblage. Since childhood I have worked with a vast array of materials, including paper, wood, paint, metal, hardware, fabric and whatever else speaks to me. It is the incongruity of materials to subject matter that makes possible the visual representation of the emotional and psychological issues that I am constantly exploring. The more I explore new mediums and techniques the deeper I delve into the center of my creativity, strength and vulnerability, all of which untimately provides the viewer with endless possibilties for interpretation.” Lina Morielli was born in Montreal, grew up in Darien, CT and is a graduate of Parsons School of Design. As an artist/arts activist she is involved in many aspects of the local art scene in the Stamford area. She was president of the Loft Artists Association and received three City Arts Partnership Program grants to produce their Annual Open Studios and Performance Series. She has created and taught after school and summer camp art enrichment programs for the I Have a Dream Foundation, the Yerwood Community Center and the South End Senior Center, all in Stamford. Morielli has also offered TV/Video workshops for high school students whose work has been aired on public access TV stations. Her award winning artwork is in over 100 private collections across the country and has been exhibited in many venues with solo exhibits in Los Angeles, New York, in Hartford, CT at the Capital Building and in Stamford at the Mayor’s Gallery.
